Bosnian lessons for the people you love and the work you do.

For partners and families of Bosnians, for people moving to Sarajevo for work, for diplomats, researchers and NGO staff, and for adults who grew up hearing the language and want to speak it properly. Taught by a native speaker who is also a trained teacher, in English or Turkish.

Triglot Languages teaches Bosnian online to adults from complete beginner to C2, one to one or in small groups, taught by a native Bosnian speaker who holds a Master's degree in English Language and Literature and a TEFL certificate, with explanations in English or Turkish. Bosnian is mutually intelligible with Croatian and Serbian, so learners can use it across the region.

Who it is for

  • Partners and spouses of Bosnians who want to talk to the family, not just smile at them
  • Professionals relocating to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and international staff based there
  • Adults with Bosnian roots who understand more than they can say
  • Researchers, students and anyone who wants a language that opens the whole region

What we cover

  • Pronunciation from the first lesson, including č, ć, đ, š and ž, so you are understood
  • The conversations that matter first: greetings, family, food, coffee, visits, work
  • Cases and verb forms explained clearly, in the order you need them, not the order in a textbook
  • The formal and informal you, and the manners that go with them
  • Culture: what to say at a wedding, a funeral, a first visit, and over coffee
  • For professionals: the vocabulary of your job and the documents you meet
  • At B2 and above: news, negotiation, writing that reads naturally, and the regional differences that matter

How it works

  1. Free level test

About fifteen minutes online, from complete beginner to C2, so your first lesson starts in the right place.

  2. Consultation

Twenty minutes to talk about why you are learning and how fast you need to go.

  3. Lessons

One to one, or the eight-session Bosnian from Zero group course, with audio you can practise with between lessons.

  4. Review

A written progress note every month and a level check after twelve weeks.

A lesson looks like this

  1. Warm-up5 min

A quick chat about your week, in the language you are learning.

  2. Focus20 min

One thing that matters to you now: a phrase set, a grammar point, a real email.

  3. Practice20 min

Role-plays and conversation built on your own situations.

  4. Recap5 min

New words, corrections and homework, sent to you afterwards.

By the end you will

  • Get through a family visit, a shop and a café in Bosnian
  • Understand the everyday conversations happening around you
  • Read signs, menus and messages with confidence
  • Know exactly which level you have reached and what comes next

Frequently asked questions

Bosnian, Croatian or Serbian: which am I learning?

They are one language family and speakers understand each other. Lessons use standard Bosnian, and Amila, who is a native speaker of all three, points out the differences when they matter to you.

Is Bosnian hard for English speakers?

Harder than French, easier than Arabic. The US Foreign Service Institute estimates about 1,100 class hours to professional fluency. Getting to a comfortable conversational level takes far less, and the first useful phrases arrive in lesson one.

Can I get a certificate?

Yes. Triglot Languages issues a school certificate stating your CEFR level at the end of a course. It is a school certificate, not an official state qualification.

Do you teach children Bosnian?

One to one, booked by a parent, yes. We do not run children's Bosnian groups.
